Every great design begins with an even better story
UAP Manila Sampaloc, the 27th Chapter of the United Architects of the Philippines, was chartered on a rainy day on April 2, 1979. The inauguration ceremony took place at No. 923 M, dela Fuente St. (formerly Trabajo St.) in Sampaloc, Manila, under the presidency of Ar. Felipe M. Mendoza FUAP, who was the UAP National President at the time. This historic event marked the beginning of a prestigious chapter that would contribute significantly to the architectural community.
The chapter's founding members, consisting of 13 officers and leaders, were officially inducted during the inauguration ceremony. At the helm of UAP Manila Sampaloc was its Founding President, Ar. Vicente O. Duran, CUAP, EUAP, FUAP. Assisting him in leading the chapter were Ar. Julio D. Matias+, FUAP as the Vice President, Ar. Grace I. Aromin+ UAP as the Secretary, and Ar. Mamerto P. Almajose+ UAP as the Treasurer. The chapter's board of directors comprised of Ar. Benjamin L. Aromin+ FUAP, Ar. Franciso P. Mapalo Jr FUAP, Ar. Romeo P. Sanchez EUAP, Ar. Carlos P. Garcia EUAP, and Ar. Angel B. Abad+ UAP. Additionally, the chapter included four members who would contribute their expertise and passion to the architectural field. These members were Ar. Agnes I. Aromin UAP, Ar. Virgilio U. Goze+ UAP, Ar. Buenvenido A. Padilla+ UAP, and Ar. Daniel V. Ansaldo UAP.
Since its establishment, UAP Manila Sampaloc has strived to uphold the values and principles set forth by the United Architects of the Philippines. The chapter has been dedicated to promoting excellence in architecture, fostering professional growth among its members, and contributing to the development of the architectural landscape in Manila and beyond.
Over the years, UAP Manila Sampaloc has actively engaged in various activities and initiatives. These include organizing seminars, workshops, and exhibitions to enhance the knowledge and skills of its members. The chapter has also been involved in community projects, collaborating with local organizations to create architectural solutions that benefit society.
